This recipe is amazing, I actually stumbled upon this recipe through trial and error when deciding a great balance for my regular smoothie drinks. This particular recipe ended with a consistency that was very thick and not drink friendly. What was a moments failure turned out to be one of the best concoctions I’ve made yet. On this day I had been craving cereal badly and was battling my separation from milk. Milk is good for you when they are in small doses, but sadly for me my body does not agree with it the same way it did when I was younger. This battle proved to be a tough one when morning time came and all I wanted was a nice bowl of Special K Cereal or some good old Cherrios.
If you are lactose intolerant, or am just looking for a healthy way to start of your day this is the recipe for you. My 4 children have tested it and they give it two thumbs up! This recipe is full of nutritional value, it includes Fiber, Magnesium, Potassium and Manganese and so much more!
Ingredients:
(Makes 1 Serving)
-1 Banana
-6 Whole Strawberries with leaves attached
-1/2 a cup of blueberries
-1/2 of an apple diced
-1 cup of kale or spinach
-1/2 a cup of coconut water (with or without pulp)
**Add chia seeds or flax seed for even more energy and nutrition!**
Layer this shake the way I have listed the ingredients for easy blending, if the consistency is to thick add more coconut juice.
Crush 1-2 cups of your favorite healthy cereal (No Coco puff’s and lucky charms do not count! Sorry!) my choice was Special K Strawberry Cereal, load these into a plastic sandwich bag and then crush slightly. You can also choose whole grain oatmeal (not the instant kind) the one in the jar or container. just fill the top and then eat like regular cereal. When you run out of cereal just add more as you eat. when your done simply store the remainder in the freezer or give to your little one.
