Its that time moms! Your beautiful new bundle of joy is now a crawling/walking/running little person! They are now talking gibberish and slightly saying their words correctly. Although I’m sure you toddler is able to say NO more than any of their other words. Below is a list of what NOT to buy a toddler. This list is only meant to help moms and families save money on products toddlers will most likely not use, destroy or be disinterested in.
1.) Expensive Toys
They usually have more fun playing with the box the toy came in verses the actual toy. I have found buying my toddlers toys was a waste of money at times since they weren’t interested in them. Instead I thought outside of the box and on my 4th child I learned you only really need a big box of blocks and sturdy tablet. The box of blocks doubles as a building station and a space station when she is bored with stacking the blocks. Save your money moms and family for when they are a few years older.
2.) Toys That Play To Many Songs
This is something mom’s like me call torture! There is nothing more crazier than your 1 year old pressing the play button on a song over and over again before the song has gotten a chance to actually play! Save yourselves moms and stick to the classic light up toys or building blocks.
3.) Fancy Electronics
Every child develops differently and learns differently as well, my toddler is 1 years old and knows how to use a tablet or mobile phone. Instead of letting her use MY phone or MY expensive tablet, I found some very cheap off brand phones and tablets that she could use whenever she pleased. She loves to watch PBS shows as well as Yo Gabba Gabba while shes eating (I breast feed) or relaxing during the day.
4.) Expensive and Beautiful Picture Books
At this age the children are more interested in ripping up the books than they are interested in you reading it to them. Save your money and get some lightly used books or hand me down books. Preferable books that are hard covered and thick. Pop Up books are awesome but those usually aren’t treasured until the child is about 3 or 4 years old.
5.) A Pet
As cute as it is to see a toddler with a puppy or kitten, it will only add to the parents stress levels. Having a pet is like having another child, it is costly and time consuming to run after two little ones who are both basically in diapers.
Well there you have it mom’s the small yet important list of 5 Things NOT To Buy A Toddler. I hope I was able to help save all of you a little bit of money, time and stress.
