Being able to relive those childhood memories of when I watched Bambi with my mom on the living room floor with my four kids now is amazing. As many of you know in April I took a trip to Los Angelos where I was able to meet the real life voices of Young Bambi and Young Thumper. During this Exclusive Interview with Peter Behn (Young Thumper) and Donnie Dunagan (Young Bambi), I found out so much fun information about what it was like during the recording process of this classic Disney Movie 75 years ago.
Can you believe that 75 years have passed by and that this classic film still touches the hearts of younger and older generations alike? During the exclusive interview, I found out that Bambi was actually slated to be released follow Disney’s Snow White, but due to WW2, the date was pushed back. After being postponed for a 4 year period due to the war this classic film was officially released at Walt Disney’s fifth film.

My kids and I popped some popcorn and had a movie night which consisted of many laughs and a few tears. The joy and excitement that Bambi, Thumper, Flower and all the other little woodland creatures brought to my family were priceless. Although, It was so sad to see Bambi’s mom being taken from him again. My 4-year-old gave me a huge hug and said she was sorry Bambi didn’t get to be with his mommy anymore.
I told her that Bambi still had his father and he ended up becoming a very strong Bambi in the end and even helped his girlfriend (that’s what she calls her). Little Bambi and Thumper are sleeping buddies for my girls and also companions for when we are on the go in life. Something I know my family took from Bambi was that nature its self is beautiful, and we have to do all we can to preserve it.
Things like just being more cautious of how we treat our environment, as well as how we treat the creatures around us is very important. Around my home we actually have a lot of deer families come through and live close to our home. The kids and I are able to watch the baby deer grow up to be adults and they asked me if Bambi was like the deer next to us. I told them, yes and it’s good to be very respectful of them and to make sure you be careful around them and don’t startle them. I also make sure we all say “hi” to the babies and the mommies so they know we are just friendly neighbors.
I really hope all of you are able to purchase this 70 year Anniversary Disney’s Bambi Bluray. I still am in awe about the graphics for this film and how far Walt Disney and his team came with this movie. Just taking a step back and enjoying the sheer beauty of the film with the characters as well as the feel the movie gives you is beautiful.
