Host a Backyard Star Wars Viewing Party
A couple years ago, May the Fourth was declared Star Wars Day. It’s the official day for fans to celebrate their love for this monumental movie franchise. With a new film scheduled to be released later this year, Star Wars has never been more popular. Now is the time to jump on board with this movement and plan a Star Wars celebration of your own! Today I want to share with you some tips for hosting a party that the whole family can enjoy.
The theme of this party idea is a Star Wars outdoor film festival. There are six Star Wars film to date, so you can pick any of them to watch. You’ll need a projector, a screen, and ample backyard space in order for this to work. Schedule the party for the early evening so that it will be dim enough for the projector to work.
Invite your guests to come as their favorite character dressed in a Star Wars costume. You can have fun with it and host a costume contest with cool prizes like collectible figures or printable art from Etsy. Create a photo booth so your guests can capture their costumes on camera! You can create something similar to a movie premier backdrop to go with theme.
Keep the party food simple with movie theater food like pizza, hotdogs, popcorn and candy. You can get movie theater-sized candy at a dollar store which will be both fun and convenient since they’re all neatly boxed up.
Before the viewing, you can organize a few fun activities ahead of time like a trivia game. You can also create a Death Star piñata and have all the young Padawans destroy it. You can also keep it casual and lay out some Star Wars LEGOs for everyone to enjoy until it’s time for the movie.
Have extra lawn chairs and blankets on hand for your guests or ask that they bring their own. Once all the guests have arrived, you can begin the movie and have a good time! If you have a great Star Wars party idea that you would like to share, please leave a comment!
