Meet Maya! She was my #LAZoo buddy during my #AvengersEvent trip to LA last weekend. We were able to take a private tour along with some other amazing bloggers in the LA Zoo. This trip not only featured some amazing animals, but it also featured some amazing zoologists who took the time to tell us about each of the animals we visited in the zoo.

Thanks to Cathy Walker is the Manager of Private and Special Events for the LA Zoo my visit will be one to remember for a lifetime.

Monkey Kingdom | Nature | Animals | In honor of Disneynature Monkey Kingdom, we visited the Los Angeles Zoo to see several species of monkeys up close. Check out the video here of the hilarious singing Siamang duet!

First off let’s start with who Maya is and where she comes from, she is the star in Disney’s #MonkeyKingdom Movie hitting theaters April 17th!

Life is an adventure for Maya, the clever and resourceful blonde-bobbed monkey in “Monkey Kingdom,” Disneynature’s new feature film set among ancient ruins in the storied jungles of South Asia. Maya’s world is forever changed when she welcomes her son, Kip, into her complicated extended family.

Like all families, Maya has more than its share of colorful personalities—and she’s determined to give her son a leg up in the world.

When their longtime home at Castle Rock is taken over by powerful neighboring monkeys, Maya’s whole family is forced to relocate, where she uses her street smarts and ingenuity to lead them to untapped resources amidst strange new creatures and unsettling surroundings.

Ultimately, they will all have to work together to reclaim Castle Rock, where Maya can hopefully realize her dreams for her son’s future. Featuring a rich cast of characters, including a mischievous mongoose, simple-minded langur monkeys, predatory leopards and monitor lizards, “Monkey Kingdom” is directed by Mark Linfield (“Chimpanzee,” “Earth”) and co-directed by Alastair Fothergill (“Chimpanzee,” “Bears”).

With music from award-winning composer Harry Gregson-Williams (“The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” “Shrek” movies), Disneynature’s eighth True Life Adventure—the follow-up to 2014’s “Bears”—swings into theaters April 17, 2015. The Los Angelos Zoo

Meet some of the stars of the LAZoo! These monkeys can be as small as your 4-month-old and as big as your 17-year-old teenager. They all boost one common quality just like Maya where they are all very family-oriented and care deeply for one another.

Some are very musical and love to make songs together, but watch out! As soon as they start it’s hard to get them to stop, but who would want them to stop? I know I enjoyed listening to them and it was a lot of fun watching them swing back and forth as they kept to the same tune.

Even though Maya was the star of this visit there are so many other beautiful animals at the LAZoo its very hard show yall 1 picture of each of them. We were able to learn many things about each animal including how long each of the animals had lived in the Zoo to how many babies each of them have.

Well, what spring if there aren’t any babies? There were so many babies around it was hard not to get caught up in the baby fever.

Just like the animals we were visiting me and Maya got very hungry, so we took it upon ourselves to get recharged and eat some delicious food. Maya seemed to be the more hungry one and ate half my cookie! Well I mean yall can’t see what she ate so we can just pretend half the cookie disappeared because of her lol. She’s is known for taking a few goodies she’s not supposed to.

After recharging our batteries we took a fun ride on The Tom Mankiewicz Conservation Carousel which was our very last stop on this amazing tour.

Completed in October 2011

The Tom Mankiewicz Conservation Carousel was made possible by a generous gift from Ann and Jerry Moss. Special features include over 64 hand-carved wooden figures, exquisitely conceived and painted art work representing the flora and fauna of California, and two universally accessible standing chariots.

Located high atop Treetops Terrace in the center of the Zoo, the carousel highlights many animals which the Los Angeles Zoo is working to save from extinction.

The ride features music identified with the “California sound” and recorded primarily in the 1960s and 1970s by A & M Records in Los Angeles. Sponsors pledged $25,000 for each animal or chariot and are recognized for 15 years on a plaque placed at the foot of each figure.

Wow! I had a great time during m visit I can’t wait to go back with my little ones! This was defiantly a MUST SEE location and #MONKEYKINGDOM MOVIE in LA that I’m sure your family will rave about for years and years to come.

It’s not just a zoo it’s a beautiful location where your family can enjoy so many different animals in one place and learn about where these animals came from and how endangered they are quickly becoming day by day.

What do you think about our visit to the #LAZoo? Have you have visited this zoo before? If so what’s your family’s favorite part of the Zoo? Share your experiences with others below!

Oh, at first I thought this was a documentary of my house! This looks like fun, the three little ones are in an animal phase right now where they like to pretend they are.

I always love watching the monkeys at the zoo. They are so interesting. I won't be able to make it out to the LA Zoo but maybe I'll check out my local zoos instead.
