MINI CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE CEREAL RECIPE

It’s so easy to make this homemade cookie cereal recipe, it tastes way better than the famous cookie crisp cereal and you can tweak the recipe. Add more chocolate chips, mix in some fresh fruit bits, the opportunities are endless.

This mini chocolate chip cookie cereal makes about 2 to 4 cups of cereal. With a prep time of 20 minutes, and a 5-8 Minutes cooking time.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Cereal Ingredients

  • butter
  • sugar
  • egg
  • vanilla extract
  • salt
  • baking powder
  • mini chocolate chips
  • all-purpose flour

How to make chocolate chip cookie cereal

To start, you will need to preheat the oven to 350 F (176 C). In a large mixing bowl, start whisking the butter and sugar together. Then add the egg and vanilla, continue whisking until you have a smooth consistency.

Next, sift the flour into it the wet ingredients, then add the salt and baking powder. Mix the cookie dough until it is well combined. Finally, add the mini chocolate chips. Scoop the cookie dough by 1/2 teaspoon into a baking tray.

Homemade chocolate chip cookie cereal

Bake the cookies on a lined baking sheet for about 5 to 8 minutes at 350 degrees. Remove them from the oven when you reach your desired color and doneness. I personally like to take them out when they start to brown around the edges, so they have a softer inside.

Once you remove the homemade mini cookies from the oven, allow the cookies to rest in the baking sheet for around 10 minutes. Cookies will harden as they cool. Making them primed and ready to enjoy in a large bowl full of milk.

How to store homemade cookie cereal

Store your homemade cookie cereal in an air-tight container for up to 3 days. To keep the cookies soft and tender, you can add a piece of bread to the container, I prefer to use our unwanted end pieces.

Just trust me! It really helps extend the life of your cookies! It’s a trick I picked up from my grandma and it really does work. The bread pretty much adds extra moisture for the cookies to stay soft and tender.

Ingredients

  • ½ cups (113 g) butter
  • ¾ cup (150 g) sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ cup (80 g) mini chocolate chips
  • 2 cup (240 g) all-purpose flour

Instructions

    1. Preheat the oven to 350 F (176 C)
    2. Start whisking butter and sugar together.
    3. Add the egg and vanilla and continue whisking.
    4. Sift the flour into it, then add the salt and baking powder
    5. Mix them until combined. Then add the chocolate chips.
    6. Scoop the cookie dough by ½ teaspoon into a baking tray.
    7. Bake the cookies for 5 to 8 minutes.
    8. Take out when you reach your desired color and doneness.
    9. You can rest your cookies for 10 minutes if you want.
    10. Cookies will harden as they wait
    11. ENJOY!
