Disney’s Dumbo 4DX Experience at Regal Cinemas | Fly With Dumbo!
Disney’s Live-Action Dumbo film is soaring into a theater near you! My girls and I celebrated Esuun’s 6th birthday at our Local Regal Cinema theater in Washington D.C. Not only did we catch Disney’s newest Live Action Film Dumbo, but we were able to soar with Dumbo in Regal Cinema’s 4DX Experience.
What Is Regal Cinema’s 4DX Experience?
4DX provides moviegoers with an immersive, multi-sensory experience, allowing the audience to connect with movies through motion, vibration, water, wind, snow, lightning, scents, and other special effects that enhance the visuals on-screen. Each 4DX auditorium incorporates motion-based seating synchronized with more than 20 different effects and optimized by a team of skilled editors, maximizing the feeling of immersion within the movie, beyond the limits of audio and video.
Each film is brought to life with enhanced visuals, sounds bubbles and more! Since every film is different, each 4DX experience is unique. For example, when my family and I saw The LEGO Movie 2: The 2nd Part film, there were flashing lights and the seats vibrated. In Disney’s Live Action Dumbo film there were minimal seat vibrations and no flashing lights. Although since Dumbo did soar in this film our seats moved with him.
*Disclosure: If your child has sensory sensitivities please be advised this 4DX experience includes.*
- Flashing lights
- The seats will move
- Air will shoot out next to your head
- The seats will vibrate and tickle you
- The seats tilt back and forth
- There is a possibility of there being spurts of smells (ie. Bananas)
- It is possible to be sprayed with water (You can turn this feature off per seat if you wish)
- There might be fog or bubbles
About The Film Dumbo
From Disney and visionary director Tim Burton, the all-new grand live-action adventure DUMBO expands on the beloved classic story where differences are celebrated, family is cherished and dreams take flight. Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) enlists former star Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) and his children Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe (Finley Hobbins) to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus.
But when they discover that Dumbo can fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attracting persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton), who recruits the peculiar pachyderm for his newest, larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland. Dumbo soars to new heights alongside a charming and spectacular aerial artist, Colette Marchant (Eva Green), until Holt learns that beneath its shiny veneer, Dreamland is full of dark secrets.
My 4DX Experience
This was my families 2nd time watching a film with the 4DX Experience. With each film, you never really know what to expect since each experience is unique. I want to report that the 4DX Experience doesn’t disappoint as you are soaring with Dumbo the entire film. Every time Dumbo takes off you take off, oh yeah did I mention Dumbo is playful? Expect some fun spurts of water while Dumbo takes his cute little bubble bath.
There were no scents or flashing lights in this film, so most of the experience catered around Dumbo’s flights paired with spurts of water and air. My girls and I are huge fans of the 4DX experience and give this film a Trunk Up!
Dumbo Film Review
I instantly felt this was a Tim Burton film, it had everything he was known for and more! I loved this take on Dumbo and didn’t mind that the story was changed up a bit. I am a lover of the classic film and was nervous about how Tim Burton would interpret a film that some of our modern kids wouldn’t understand. For example, the iconic Dumbo drunken Bubbles scene was reimagined into something just as epic and showstopping.
My 6-year-old and 10 years old LOVED this film, it totally clicked with them. There is a scene were Dumbo splashes water which in the 4DX Experience you will get sprayed with water. My girls couldn’t stop laughing for 2 minutes at this scene. The vibe of the film is a little darker than I had thought it would be, with a more grainy feel as if you were really getting that circus vibe.
Dreamland was definitely something new and grander than the teaser trailers had lead on. It wasn’t too scary for my 6 year old and was captivating for my 10-year-old. This film overall is a great family-friendly film that was without a doubt made for the big screen. The ending was the sweetest and put this mom to tears.
