How to core an apple

The easiest way to core an apple is to use an apple corer. If you do not have an apple corer handy, then you can do it the old school way by using a knife and spoon.

To start, you will need to insert the tip of the paring knife a few centimeters to one side of the center stem of the apple. Using the knife start cutting into the apple and rotating it around to cut out an even circle around the stem of the apple.

Using the tip of the spoon, dig out the core of the apple, including the seeds. Continue digging out the apple until you remove the entire core area of the apple.

How to make instant pot baked apples

Using a sharp knife or an ice cream scoop core the apples. Once the core is out and using a spoon take out the extra seeds and pieces.

In a small mixing bowl, beat the butter with the brown sugar and spices with a hand mixer until you have a thick paste. Next, you will need to add the oats in and stir to combine.

How to fill baked apples?

Using a small spoon, spoon in the filling into each apple until full. Do not overstuff the apples, you can always add extra garnish at the end for more flavor.

Once you have all of the stuffed apples ready, grab your instant pot and place it on your countertop. Grab a trivet for this next step.

How to cook baked apples in an instant pot?

Place the trivet into the Instant Pot, then add the stuffed apples and close the lid and valve. To cook these easy-baked apples, set the instant pot on high pressure for 3 minutes.

Once the timer is up, manually release steam. Be careful when releasing the steam from your instant pot. To safely release the steam, you can use a kitchen spatula or hand towel.

The steam from your pressure cooker will release very quickly, please make sure you have the spout facing away from you or valuables. Finally, you will need to open the valve and lid and spoon the apples into plates.

Ingredients

  • 4 Apples
  • 1/4 Cup butter, softened

  • Pinch of ground clove and pinch of ground star anise

Instructions

  5. Set on high pressure for 3 minutes.
