Kings Dominion KidsFest – A Blast of Fun This Summer!

Kidsfest 1

Summer means fun, fun also means well FUN! Planning the perfect vacation can be hard at times, it seems like you plan for everything down to a T and then boom, you forgot the sunblock at home. Well, this year we decided let’s loosen up and stop planning our every move during out family vacation time. Our trip to the Kings Dominion KidsFest was going to be epic, it was going to be completely unplanned play time that meant we ate where ever we landed in the park.

Check out our full video of This year’s Kings Dominion KidsFest Event. Please don’t forget to like and subscribe to my channel!

Family vacation time usually means ROAD TRIP! Yes, this is it’s own part of the vacation in itself. To read about my 3-year-olds hilarious”mishap” you can head over here and read the full story. I love to use our portable DVD player for our road trips, it makes everything so much more enjoyable for the kids, since we don’t have any traveling wifi at this moment and that’s usually what their tablets need. During this roadtrip my little Esuun and KeKe picked out the movie Zootopia to watch on the way to Kings Dominion. It was perfect and it kept everyone happy during the crawling traffic we encountered.

Once we arrived at the park we stopped to get a quick lunch that any group of kids could be happy to eat. There was mac-n-cheese, chicken strips, chips, soda (my kids favorite or course), cookies, turkey wraps and salad for the adults. We ate until we couldn’t eat anymore and happily set off to adventure what KidFest had to offer.

Since we got word The Imagination Movers would be performing within minutes of us finishing our food, we made our way to the dance party section to play with some bubbles. The excitement was building for my little girls as they got pumped up to meet the actual Imagination Movers in person! We got some amazing seats and danced and partied for an entire hour. Some clips of their show are in the youtube video above.

These guys are as fun as they are on the TV as they are in person. They are such a fun group of guys who made this mom laugh until my face hurt. The girls danced and the boys attempted to smack the huge balloon balls that were floating around the crowd. My oldest even helped the little one smack a ball a few times. It was so cool! The music was so interactive and the entire crowd was into everything.

During the KidsFest event, you can catch live shows around Planet Snoopy, it’s always a good thing to check the signs so you can make sure you grab your seats before the show starts. My kids loved the Mad science show, the boys couldn’t wait to try some stuff at home (uh yeah probably never gonna happen but yeah LOL).

Kidsfest 18

My kids love Planet Snoopy, there is something for all of their ages and no one has to argue about who’s going on first. They can all go on together or split up and do the rides side by side. FYI Planet Snoopy offers family stations available on this side of the park which feature, A/C units, changing tables, bathrooms, rocking chairs, private rooms for breastfeeding, and even a kid station which plays The Peanuts Movie. I had to go in there several times with my potty trainer and get some quick changes in so she was comfortable.

Kidsfest 19 Kidsfest 20

I’m not going to lie, this is the first time I have ever had Dole Soft Serve and it was amazing! It was everything I dreamt it would be and more! I was able to try the strawberry and pineapple, yum! I highly recommend you get a cup of this heavenly treat while you are at the park, it’s a great way to cool off and stay away from being hangry.

Kidsfest 7 Kidsfest 8

KidsFest also featured cute balloon animals! Look out for the stations that feature a fun balloon animal maker, we had a fun lady clown at ours. My girls love their little kola and unicorn, the boy’s of course, got swords. There were also activity tables where the kids can get creative and do fun activities.

Keep an eye out for other fun stuff for the kids to look at, like a real fire truck! My kids were able to sit inside the truck and find out what all of those buttons do, the firefighters were so kind and patient with them and unlike me didn’t freak out when they touched everything in sight.

The last few times we visited we never got a chance to see soak city, today was the day! Those long-awaited months we dreamed about getting soaking wet had finally come to reality. The kids went crazy when we found the kid side of Soak City, which featured so many great ways the kids could play with the water.

Kidsfest 9 Kidsfest 10 Kidsfest 11

I included those fun features in the youtube video above, it’s so worth it for them to come here. We are all still working on getting better at swimming, so just doing this which was within their skill level was amazing, they still talk about it to this day.

Kidsfest 13

Who doesn’t want their face painted? It took a lot out of me to not get it done in the beginning of the trip but had I known that if you even smudge your face paint they will fix it for free, I would have gotten it when we walked through the gates. That’s right you heard me, you can have your face paint fixed for free! The girls got some beautiful masks, while the boys and I got henna tattoos.
