Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort Review | Orlando, FL

My family and I recently traveled to Flordia for a whopping 3 weeks, some call me crazy and other’s call me adventurous. I like to think I’m a good mixture of both of those, seeing as I survived and everyone made it back home in one piece. On our first night in Flordia, we stayed at Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort in Orlando Florida. That feeling you get when you drive up to the Universal area really gets you excited, you see minions on buses and Secret Life of Pet’s as well.

I like to keep most of my travel plans a secret up until a day before the event or the day of the event. It helps keep the kids on their toes and really wow’s them. I have been doing that for year’s now and it seems to work as far as building up their excitement for the main event. Even though we passed a million signs and billboards on the way to the Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort showing the Universal Studio’s theme parks. The kids had no idea’s we would be staying in this awesome resort for the night.

I have a family of 5 with growing teenage boys, so I opted to get the Family Suite and was not disappointed at all. Upon walking in you enter the common area where a kitchenette holds a microwave, Coffee Maker, silverware, cups, and plates. The living room area holds a pull out couch that my boys without a question opted to sleep on since it was next to the TV. The room really went with the theme of the hotel and made me feel very comfortable walking in.

Esuun tested out the bed’s for yall and deemed them perfect for jumping on. Even though I instructed her to get down and only use them for sleeping on, she wanted to make sure yall knew they were Kid Approved. The beds were perfectly firm and soft for someone like me with a bad back. I am super picky when it comes to pillows and bed’s and I felt like I brought my bed from home with me. The bathroom and shower are separate meaning no one has to rush you out of the shower to go pee, Winning!

Time To Refuel

When it’s time to refuel and recharge with some delicious food you can head over to the Bayliner Diner™ where you can choose from many different types of foods in a Food Court setting. If you are looking for some delicious coffee to recharge with you can head on over to the in-house Starbucks featuring all of your favorite drinks.

If you are poolside and want to just step a few feet from the pool, you can check out The Hideaway Bar & Grill™. Here you will find snacks and meals, along with frozen drinks, cocktails, beer and wine for a tropical poolside treat. Atomic Tonic™ is where you can refresh at this shaded bar located on the Cabana Courtyard pool deck, serving cold beer, wine, specialty cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages.

Also on site at Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort is the Swizzle Lounge™ where you can Chill out with a refreshing collection of made-to-order cocktails and snacks in the hotel lobby’s retro-inspired lounge. One of the coolest things I found on sight was the Galaxy Bowl which is the hotel’s very own bowling alley featuring ten lanes of ten-pin action on the second floor of the lobby building.

It comes complete with a table service restaurant The Galaxy Bowl Restaurant™ and a full bar so you don’t even have to stop to eat. If you don’t want to leave your room you can just pick up the phone in your room and order some Delizioso Pizza. Make sure to check your rooms upon arrival for coupons for Delizioso Pizza.

Fun Things To Do On Property

Stock up on some seriously fun gear at the Universal Gift Shop and meet some of your favorite characters during the Character Appearances at the resort. Spend some time at the Lazy River Courtyard And Pool which is located in the middle of the resort. The kids and I spent all day swimming and only left to grab something to eat and then go back into the pool. Let’s just say that everyone slept very well that night seeing as we were at the pool for a little over 8 hours that day.

There are many Poolside Activities that go on during the day, make sure to ask someone at the front desk when you’re checking in what times those usually go on. Don’t forget to check out their Ace The Arcade, come ready to win in some fun games. I know it’s vacation but it’s always good to keep your gym routine. So when you are able to sneak away from the kids head over to the Jack LaLanne Physical Fitness Studio.

Perks of staying at an Onsight Orlando Resort:

  • Early Park Admission* To The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™
  • Fun, Free And Easy Transportation (Waterboats and Buses)
  • Character Appearances
  • and More!

Mom’s Thoughts

My family had a great time staying at this resort, the room was nicely spaced for my family of 5. I really liked the 1950’s and 60’s theme they had going throughout the resort. It did feel as though you were stepping back in time. The experience was great and the pool’s offered complimentary life vests for the kids to use. The food was great and there was a ton of stuff to do onsight we didn’t have to leave the resort for anything. I would definitely recommend this resort to any family looking for a fun place to stay while in Orlando.
