August was a fun filled month for my family, we attended the 2017 Family Forward Event which featured so many great things to do in Flordia. One of the wonderful parts of this event was being able to stay at Universal’s Loews Saphire Falls Resort. Located across the street from Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort and just a short WaterBoat Taxi ride to Universal Florida and CityWalk.
Pulling up to the hotel you are welcomed by a bellhop who delightfully helps you unpack your bags and totes them into the hotel. If you are looking to be welcomed with smiles then this is the hotel for you to visit while in Flordia. There is a nice sized lobby sitting area where the kids can lounge as you check-in to your room. The lobby space is very welcoming and the kids had a great time looking around the lobby spotting some of the different decorations. Since our room wasn’t ready we were told we could use our room keys to access the downstairs pool area. We hang out there till we got the text notification letting us know our room was ready along with the room number.
The Room
Once our room was ready we rushed to get to our rooms to get our stuff unpacked and snacks and drinks situated. Upon walking in the room, you have greeted with a very bright room with beautiful accents all around. Since you are in Flordia you aren’t surprised that the decor matches the beautiful island theme which moves throughout the resort. The beds are gorgeous and the room itself is very clean and crisp, definitely something I like to walk into and tell the kids immediately “Don’t dirty this room up!“. There was ample room for our roll away bed to sit by the window as well as a beautiful work desk that I sat at a few times during my stay to check emails and do a little bit of blog work on the go.
I normally don’t use dressers during my hotel stays but since we were staying for 6 nights I opted to pull out all our clothes and assign them their own drawers. There were 4 drawers in this dresser which was perfect for my family of 5, I was able to fit all of our outfits from our luggage in each drawer. The room came equipt with a mini fridge which the kids quickly loaded up their juices, water, and chocolate milk in. Since I brought only shelf stable snacks we jam packed our fridge with just drinks. On the dresser you will find a single serve Keurig ready for you to use, you are provided with different drink choices perfect for your family or just for us adults.
Tip: Bring your own Keurig Pod’s and have a hot chocolate party or your own favorite coffee from home!
The bathroom and shower were housed together with the vanity sitting outside of that area. I liked this setup since the kids tend to fight over who gets to use the mirror and who gets to use the bathroom. The bathroom featured a barnyard styled door as well as a nicely spaced shower and bathroom, I didn’t feel cramped and felt very comfortable using it. The Vanity features some complimentary amenities that sometimes we forget at home. Things like Q-tips, cotton balls, shampoo, conditioner, lotion and a shower cap.
The Pool
Once we had all of our stuff situated in the room and we got a sneak peek into where we would be sleeping that night we headed back to the hotel’s pool area. This pool was huge and was perfect for all age’s, The hotel’s 16,000-square-foot pool with two sand beaches spells fun and relaxation, as do the hot tubs, cabanas (for rent), water slide, children’s play area, fire pit and more. The kids really enjoyed going on the water slide, even little Euun was able to go on it and she had a blast.
Games and Activities
The pool area also features some poolside games and activities for your kids to join in on. Keturah got to play the water bucket race and her team won twice! She had a blast and a half playing, after the games the DJ played some music and the kids got to get up and dance. If you want to take a break from the sun you can head over towards the poolside game area where you can find a ping pong table, a huge connect four game as well as an Arcade. The pool area also features a Dive-In Movie where your kids can swim and watch a movie and you can order poolside food to make this a night to remember.
The pool area features a poolside restaurant Drhum Club Kantine with servers who will take your order as you sun bath. Definitely, a wonderful feature of this hotel that really made the experience more enjoyable for me. As the kids swam I was able to refuel so I could keep up with their high energy. Located poolside, Drhum Club Kantine offers a delightful menu focusing on fresh seafood and taste-tempting tropical drinks. I’m not sure what it is with me but when I travel I really love to eat Cheeseburgers and French Fries. I really enjoyed my cheeseburger and since it was so big I was able to share it with one of the kids.
Places To Eat
If you are finally dried off and want to put on some comfortable attire, you can adventure around the hotel and find some other yummy places to eat with the family. New Dutch Trading Co.™ offers craft sandwiches, freshly brewed coffee, pastries and more at this port shop. Amatista Cookhouse™ is a coastal-chic eatery features an exhibition kitchen cooking up Caribbean-inspired cuisine for every island appetite. Mom’s Thoughts
My whole family had a blast and a half staying at Universal’s Loews Saphire Falls Resort in Orlando Florida. Everything from the pool to the restaurants on the property was delicious and very enjoyable. I liked the Waterboats which toted us to and from CityWalk on the days we adventured out to Universal Studios. The kids had a great time riding the Waterboat Taxi’s and really enjoyed the whole experience at the hotel. The pool was one of their favorite places to go since it had so many things for them to do. We spent a whole day at the pool when we checked in and only left to eat dinner.
I would highly recommend this hotel to any family looking to stay and reap some great perks for Universal Studios. The hotel and the rooms were very clean and definitely within my standards for super fancy yet family friendly. The staff is very friendly and even when I requested came after hours to bring clean sheets and towels.
