Instant Pot Indian Butter Chicken

One-Pot Meal!


Step 1

Switch the pot to Saute mode. Melt a stick of butter in the pot until it becomes foamy.

Step 2

Toss in onions and garlic and cook until they are about halfway done.

Step 3

Add the spices, chicken stock, and coconut milk.

Step 4

Add salt and pepper to taste, and stir well.

Step 5

Add the frozen or raw chicken to the pot. Cover it with the sauce.

Step 6

Cover the pot, select the meat setting. Cook for 10 minutes with 10 min NPR. *Natural Pressure Release.

Step 7

If after 10 minutes the lid has not unlocked, release the excess steam and remove the lid.

Step 8

Flip back on the Saute mode and add the tomato paste.

Step 9

Shred or cut the chicken. I like to remove the chicken and use two forks to shred it.

Step 10

Add the shredded chicken back to the pot and let it simmer in the sauce for a few minutes.

Serve over Basatmi rice and Naan! Enjoy!
