Finding Dory

I should probably start this review by telling you my history with the Finding Nemo Story which premiered 2003. It was the only movie my son would sit and watch with a smile on his face when he was little. You know those movies your kids watch that tend to drive you crazy after the 1,001 time it’s been played in the same week? This was the type of movie where I had no issues with it playing and didn’t mind sitting and watching it with him as well. In my opinion, the Finding Nemo movie was about growing which the I think all the characters at the end did. They all learned that personal growth wasn’t such bad thing and that it made life so much more enjoyable once they did end up letting go of their fears.

Finding Dory 1

If you have watched Disney and Pixar’s Finding Nemo movie then you will know that our Dory met the 2 clown fish while Merlin was in search of little Nemo. It was in Merlin and Dory’s first encounter that Merlin quickly found out that Dory suffered from Short Term Memory Loss. Honestly, I think all of us do, this mom more in particular because I seem to juggle a million things at once due to being a single mother. I couldn’t tell you what I ate for dinner 2 nights ago, but I can sure as heck tell you it was most likely very delicious! This movie picks up where this new bigger family left off after they finally found Nemo, but only after crossing the ocean a whopping 2 times. I’m including the travel they had to do to get back home of course.

In this story Dory does something she hasn’t done since she was in search of Nemo, she remembered something! Not just anything, she remembered her family! As the story goes on Dory decides she wants to go in search for her long lost family that has eluded her for many years. I really don’t want to give away the wonderful story that develops so bare with me as I give you the jest of it. During the search of her parents, Dory begins to remember more, more and more about her past. Which is surprising since our Dory is known for her short term memory loss. Her search leads her to a rehabilitation Aquarium “The Jewel of Monterey, California”.finding dory photo 1

Once Dory finds her way into the Aquarium she meets a new friend Hank, the octopus with 3 hearts. Hank needs her tracking tag so he doesn’t get released back into the wild. Hank just wants to sit in a tank and relax by his self for the rest of his life (No more touching!).  After Dory reunites with an old pipe buddy Destiny the extremely near-sighted whale shark she makes her way towards finding her parents. Without giving away the hilarious events that occur in the aquarium as Dory searches for her parents I will let you know that the amazingly beautiful ending is Dory does find her parents, thanks to a trail of seashells that leads her back home.

Finding Dory Dolby Cinema 1

I cried, I laughed, I OOO’d I Awed, I did everything with this movie and I can’t tell you how much I loved it as a sequel to the original Finding Nemo movie. My kids gave this movie 2 thumbs up each which equals 8 thumbs up but, they wanted to count their thumbs on their toes so technically this movie received 16 thumbs up. For our moving going experience, we finally got to visit our local Dolby Cinema at the AMC theater. I had recently visited a Dolby Cinema Theater while in LA for the Jungle Book Event.

HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Here’s a quick video of what my odd thought of the NEW Disney Finding Dory Movie swimming in a Dolby Cinema theater near you. #FindingDory #DolbyCinema #shareamc

The seats are amazingly comfortable, which for a person like me with bad back problems. The seats are cushioned and spacious, with a movable armrest in the middle of a set of 2 sets. The seats also recline and are available at the touch of a button. I feel like I’m at home on my own couch when I sit in these seats, the kids and I love them! Dolby Cinema also features Moving Audio with Breathtaking sound in Dolby Atmos® fills the room and flows all around you. Even your seats! With Dramatic Imaging featuring Astonishing brightness, deep darks, and vibrant colors in Dolby Vision™ render each moment with spectacular impact.

With this movie screen you get the 3D imagining you love but without glasses, the curved picture screen is so crisp and beautiful you really feel like your under the sea. The short video “Piper” that played before the Finding Dory movie it featured a small Sandpiper who ventures out of her nest and onto the beach with her mom. Piper has to overcome her fears of the crashing ocean waves that seem as though they are going to smash her little feathers to pieces.

After meeting a new friend a hermit crab she finds a way to overcome her fears of the sea and also find a neat trick to fishing out the sea clams in the sand. The graphics that were featured in this short were so amazing I honestly thought that it was a real beach setting at first. The beach sand looked so real and amazing on this screen I really wish I could have reached out and touched it. The testament to this experience with the Dolby Cinema Screen is the realness of the sand, the water, and even the birds.

If you haven’t already head to your nearest Dolby Cinema at AMC to experience Finding Dory swimming in a theater near you. Here is a quick trailer for this touching and heartfelt movie that I think everyone needs to see. You are going to laugh so hard and cry happy tears just like this mom did when you go. Don’t worry though you wont be the only one doing this. Have you see Finding Dory yet? If so leave a comment below with what you thought about this cute fish tale.

I can’t wait to see this movie with my kids. It would also be a neat movie to watch in 3D. Although, I will probably wait until it comes out on DVD to see it though.
