I would not be exaggerating when I say that this is one of my favorite movies of 2016, it’s as if they were saving the best for the last of the year. This movie was jaw dropping beautiful with so much pride and astonishing visuals that kept not only myself entertained but all four of my kids. That says a lot coming from me since my 4 kids range in ages from 3 years old to 11 years old.
Overall I love this movie and cannot wait to purchase it on DVD, my kids have told me they don’t mind rewatching it again just because the adventure is so amazing. I will have to say my boys enjoyed the “warm water” jokes throughout, don’t worry when you see the movie yourself you will think back and laugh at it just like we do. The movie itself was so adventurous and radiated so much pride and beautiful of the Polynesian culture.
There were points in the movie where I cried with Moana through her struggles and then cried tears of joys as she triumphed and overcame her fears. The music in the movie was fantastic and I am already reserving a soundtrack CD for my girls, yes we still own CD players in my house. Heads up! Dwayne Johnson (voice of Maui) sings a fun song you don’t want to miss. Overall the music in this movie was fantastic and my girls sang the songs all day after we left the theater.
The beautiful Auli’i Cravalho (voice of Moana) was in my eyes perfect for this role, if you take a quick look at the video below you wills ee why Auli’i was perfect for this role.
Moana is a vivacious teenager who is in love with the see, it calls her. When you meet Moana as a baby in the beginning of the movie you can’t help but fall in love with Moana from the very first scenes. I promise I won’t spoil the movie for you but let’s just say she is uberly cute and grows to be a beautiful young woman! Auli’i did a fantastic job bringing this adventurous young woman to life displaying courage and happiness through every scene. I couldn’t help but feel as hough I was on this adventure with her and felt for every moment she needed to triumph through.
Dwayne Johnson (voice of Maui) was everything I hoped for him to be as a Demi-God for man. I have followed Dwayne Johnson’s career as a WWE wrestler all the way up until these past years where he has taken on many different roles in films. Dwayne was perfect for bringing Maui his strong masculine character that in the end, we find out even though he is a Demi-God he has a past that humans can relate to and understand. Maui’s quirky humor and downright courage was something that Dwayne was able to bring out perfectly in this movie.
Rachel House (voice of Grandma Tala) also known as the village crazy lady did an amazing job with her role. Grandma Tala played such a big role in Moana’s life and really helped mold her to be all she could be without regret. As Moana grew her Grandma Tala was by her side making sure even though Moana had responsibilities to her people, that she never truly forgot who she was deep inside. As many of us adults know growing up sometimes means giving up the things we love to accomplish goals and take on responsibilities. I felt as though Grandma Tala taught us that even though growing up means we need to take on our responsibilities, it’s important to love ourselves and always stay true to who we are.
Now onto my Dolby Cinema at AMC Experience review.
My Dolby Cinema at AMC Experience for Disney’s Moana was a fun adventure in itself. As many of you already know the Dolby Cinema’s feature so many amazing qualities that any family would love. Everything from their spacious cushioned seats to their curved big screen, you get the experience you crave for with every movie you view in this theater.
With these screens, the Blacks are not that scratchy black it’s the pitch black that movies intend to have, the colors are more enhanced giving them a more life-like essence. The curved screen also sets this experience apart making it even better. Whenever I go to a Dolby Cinema theater I don’t even miss 3D movies, it’s like I get that 3D experience with their theaters.
Let’s not forget to talk about these Cushioned seats, they are so spacious and perfect for cuddling up on with the kiddo’s or for date night. There is no such thing as touching elbows with these seats unless you move the middle arm rest and create a huge love seat. The moving audio that rumbles through your seats and through your ears throughout the theater is amazing. It really sounds like you are on the open sea with Maui and Moana, and when the seats rumble it feels as though you are crashing against the waves as they are.
Would I highly recommend to anyone this Dolby Cinema Experience? YES! Of Course, I would! Would I recommend you see Moana in the Dolby Cinemas at AMC? Yes, of course, I would! Written by Miranda and performed by Dwayne Johnson in the film, “You’re Welcome” showcases the colorful personality of Maui. Hollywood Records artist Jordan Fisher teams up with Miranda for the end-credit version of “You’re Welcome.” After a breakout performance in the Emmy® Award-winning production of Grease: Live, Jordan Fisher released his debut single, “All About Us,” which soared to the top of the Billboard Pop charts. Fisher, who recently opened for Alicia Keys at this year’s Apple Music Festival, has joined the Broadway cast of “Hamilton,” and is set to release his full-length album in 2017.
For centuries, the greatest sailors in the world masterfully navigated the vast Pacific, discovering the many islands of Oceania. But then, 3,000 years ago, their voyages stopped for a millennium – and no one knows exactly why. From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes “Moana,” a sweeping, CG-animated feature film about an adventurous teenager who is inspired to leave the safety and security of her island on a daring journey to save her people. Inexplicably drawn to the ocean, Moana (voice of Auli?i Cravalho) convinces the mighty demigod Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson) to join her mission, and he reluctantly helps her become a Wayfinder like her ancestors who sailed before her. Together, they voyage across the open ocean on an action-packed adventure, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds, and along the way, Moana fulfills her quest and discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity.
MOANA is an adventurous, tenacious and compassionate 16-year-old who sails out on a daring mission to save her people. Along the way, she discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity. Directed by the renowned filmmaking team of Ron Clements and John Musker (“The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin,” “The Princess & the Frog”) and featuring newcomer Auli’I Cravalho as the voice of Moana, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Moana” sails into U.S. theaters on Nov. 23, 2016. ©2016 Disney. MAUI is a demigod—half god, half mortal, all awesome. Charismatic and funny, he wields a magical fishhook that allows him to shapeshift into all kinds of animals and pull up islands from the sea.
