The Pirates of The Caribbean adventures continue as we follow two new characters in a whirlwind grand adventure. I previously spoke about how this movie was surely going to be epic and I am excited to announce that after seeing it myself I can confirm this is epic without question. In this adventure, you will meet Henry played by Brenton Thwaites and Carina Smyth played by Kaya Scodelario as they search for a way to find the answer to all their problems. Their search begins with a fateful meeting as the two are both tangled in their drive to end the curse that traps both of their parents.
My Thought’s
I absolutely loved this movie and even though I had to wait 5 years I feel as though that wait was way more than worth it. I found that with this movie you don’t want to go in expecting anything but a grand adventure that your whole family can enjoy. Whenever you think about Pirates of The Caribbean you think boom, pow, laughs, giggles and romance. Well, you will not be disappointed with this latest edition and I believe you will be as excited as I am to run and tell your family and friends to go to their nearest theater and see it as soon as possible.
My favorite part of the movie is the origin part of the story where you find out how Captain Jack Sparrow got his name as well as how it led to Captain Salazar wanting more than just revenge on him. My favorite scene is when the young Captain Jack Sparrow turns around and looks back at Captain Salazar and spins his compass around and sails away as if he isn’t even phased.
The grandness of this movie partnered with the amazing special effects is a testament to the fact that Disney goes big or goes home. In this case, they went big, like humongous! Since seeing the very first Pirates Of The Caribbean movie in (2003), they really set the bar high as to what we should expect with every movie that followed. I feel like even though there is now 5 movies you don’t feel as though they have lost their momentum and that there is so much more of this story to be told.
We are always so fascinated with Elizabeth Swan and Will Turner’s love story, that we really look forward to seeing more of that in each movie. Since Will Turner was cursed with being the Captian of The Flying Dutchman it seemed as though all hope was lost for this beloved couple. In this edition, you will find that love is always around the corner and that it can happen when we least expect it. Love conquers all and I feel as though each of the Pirates Of The Caribbean movies has made a point to showcase that aspect.

Would I recommend that you go see this movie in the theaters? Of Course, I do! I actually highly recommend that you take your entire family and make sure to bring popcorn and drinks for a whirlwind adventure. Honestly, I don’t really know what you’re waiting for! I’m so excited to be taking my family to see this movie I already pre-purchased our tickets for opening weekend.
What To Expect When Bringing Youg Sea Lads
There really isn’t much that we haven’t already seen during the adventures of the high seas with Pirates of the Caribbean movies. However, in this movie, you will find some seriously gruesome Ghost Sharks. These ghost sharks are featured just long enough to bring you some great scenes that had me at the edge of my seat. Don’t worry I won’t spoil it for you, you know I wouldn’t do that to you! Just a heads up though if you are bringing little ones who might be scared of these insanely (ugly) ghost sharks.
Carina Smith
Carina Smyth was played by the gorgeous Kaya Scodelario. I must first say Bravo! To this beautifully talented young woman who brought this fierce character to reality. With this film being predominately ruled by men it was a breath of fresh air to see another strong woman lead character such as Elizabeth Swann – Later Known as Elizabeth Turner (played by Keira Knightley). In the first edition of these sea tales, you find Elizabeth Swan who is very interested in the world of pirates and actually falls in love with Will Turner who later becomes the Captain of the Flying Dutchman.
Carina is a high-spirited strong young woman in search of finding the answers her late father left her. The only remaining thing she has left is her father’s journal which she uses to eventually find the Trident that is rumored to break all curses of the Sea. I promise I won’t spoil this for you but the amazing twist that even I wasn’t expecting will knock you off your feet. Carina is a spunky independent woman that all of us can definitely relate to, she is driven and won’t stop till she finds that Trident.
Henry
Hello, Handsome! Herny is played by Brenton Thwaites an Australian Native. Henry loves his father Will Turner and dedicates his life to finding the only person who his father told him could help break his curse. Henry sets out on a long journey to find Captain Jack Sparrow, only to find Carina as well as Captain Jack Sparrow in the same town.
I love how much his character pursued this dream of hopefully breaking his father’s curse and then reuniting with him and his mother. Through his character, you can see how he is longing for his family to be complete and have his father back. If you saw the very small clip at the end of Pirates of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, you will catch a glimpse of little Henry and Elizabeth looking at the horizon. Such a touching part of the movie to see him sail across the sea’s doing whatever he can reunite with his father (Wipes tears away and blows in tissue). I’m excited to hopefully see much more of Henry in future movies and hopefully some more romance for him!
Captain Salazar
Hello, amazing! Javier Bardem did an amazing job with bringing this dark and scary character to life. Javier Bardem has played a villain in previous films, so I knew when I heard he would be playing the part of Captain Salazar that he would without a doubt exceed all my expectations. If you were wondering what Jack Sparrow has to do with Captain Salazar then you have to see the movie yourself. Javier really captures that scary, bitter Spanish general that once almost rid the sea’s of pirates for once and all. How Captain Jack Sparrow plays into this will actually shock you and make you go WOW.
Thank you, Javier, for being that seriously awesome creepy villain that all of us will love forever. His strong presence in this role made me feel his vengeful spirit as well as his pain and anguish being stuck in his seemingly immortal state of being. I will say that I personally would have loved to see more scenes with Captain Salazar but I’m sure thats just me being greedy.
Captain Jack Sparrow
I’m sure all of you already know that Captain Jack Sparrow is played by the infamous Johnny Depp. Johnny did it yet again and brought the lovable Captain Jack Sparrow back to us and showed us that this quirky pirate is nothing but full of surprises. I feel like with every new movie we are able to see more and more of Jack and who he is behind that quirky exterior. Sometimes I wonder if he is that good of a pirate or if maybe he is just that lucky in situations. I sat for a moment and thought, I think the reason he actually gets through all his hilarious predicaments is because he is truly a pirate deep inside.
Being a pirate is in his nature and because of that, it’s why he is able to wiggle his way out of the many hilarious situations he gets his self into. No matter how deep he seems to be in those situations I feel like his sheer perfect timing and experience makes for each escape that much better. Bravo Johnny I seriously could not see Captain Jack Sparrow played by anyone else.
Barbosa
Barbosa played by Geoffrey Rush, the original Pirates of the Caribbean Villian that all of us loved to hate in the very beginning. In my eyes the very first Villian that set the bar for all other scary pirates. Through each of the sequels, I feel as though we have gotten a much better look at the man behind the extravagant wig. He is way more than just a dirty old pirate, he is a man with style and so many secrets in his past. Do some of those secrets help create this bad attitude that you tend to see throughout all the movies? Who knows, but I do know that you must watch this movie to find out why Captain Barbosa made me cry.
I truly love the way Geoffrey Rush brought this character to life, he plays a pirate that has a lavish sense of style but at the same time cannot help but be the pirate he is by nature. I feel as though you can see a very gentle side of him when it comes to those he does hold close to him, and how he makes sure that things are “kept to the code”. I want to see way more of Geoffrey Rush and without a doubt want to see him in future movies.
