My families 2017 summer was a whirlwind of fun, I did something crazy and road-tripped for 3 weeks with my kids from Northern Virginia to Sunny Orlando Florida. I had many people commend me for my act of bravery to travel across multiple states with my four kids in the back seats. I also had people offer to buy me wine gift cards to use once I made it to my destination. While I heeded my family and friends warnings I knew I had my secret weapon the 2017 Kia Sedona.
This sleek and stylish beauty was my best friend during the entire 3-week road trip. When it comes to driving long distances you want the best of the best in features. The 2017 Kia Sedona will not disappoint you when it comes to providing almost every comfort from home on the road. It glides like your driving a spaceship, not that I’ve ever driven one before. I could imagine it would be something if not similar but exactly like driving the 2017 Kia Sedona.
The Start of our Road Trip
I can admit right now that I absolutely do not know how to pack light for any type of trip. I can be a practical packer but packing light is not in my dictionary. As seen above in the photo I managed to pack up about a million things that magically fit in the huge trunk space we had. There were tons of other fun places I found in the Mini Van that I was able to sneak the baskets of the kid’s snacks in. I’m not sure if placing a crate full of snacks next to a 10 and 11-year-old was smart but I will say they were comfortably full for almost the whole trip.
Where it took us.
Features We loved
I want to say I have driven without a backup camera in my cars for almost my entire life. Whenever I actually get behind the wheel of a car that features it I’m a kid in a candy store. The 2017 Kia Sedona doesn’t just feature a backup camera it features a 360 bird’s eye view back up camera. If you are like my mom and take a million years to back up this camera is for you. I love how I get real-time 360 birds eye camera action as I’m backing into a parking space. I grew really fond of how easy it made parking for me as well a how it took a lot of the stress I usually face when parking. I love, love, love this feature!
Let’s not forget the awesome touchscreen display with full Navigation capabilities, entering in an address is super easy. Featuring Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™ as well as a BLUETOOTH® Wireless Technology Hands-Free Connectivity. The kids loved it when I turned up the music for their favorite songs and movies on the Infinity® 8-Speaker Audio w/ External Amplifier & Subwoofer. The sound system makes you feel like your in a movie theater, it was so cool I got to enjoy listening to the movie as I drove.
Let me first say how much of a winning feature the DVD player was for my kids. Whenever the hot spot would become spotty the kids would turn on the DVD player and watch a movie together. There were also USB outlets and other volt power outlets all around the minivan for any seat to access. My oldest Anthony who was 11 years old at the time of this road trip, he would plug in his tablet and watch movies and played games when he had wifi access. Since I’m Mom and I rule the world, or at least the ability to turn off and on the outlets. There is a button located in the front that could turn it on or off making me the queen of the minivan.
Tip: Since I have 4 kids I alternated who sat in the front row closest to the Screen. I let the kids pick their own movies in groups of two so everyone had a chance to get front row seats to each movie they picked.
The 2017 Kia Sedona didn’t have just one, but two sunroofs with each accessible at the touch of a button. I had full control of the double sunroofs and was able to keep a watchful eye on the kids. I liked opening the sunroof during the day to give the kids extra sunlight to write and color. As well as a fun view of the stars at night when we had a clear overcast.
The 2017 Kia Sedona has wonderfully comfortable seats as well as easy to adjust buttons throughout the minivan. The front seat offer Ventilated seats giving it a breathable feature that also provides cool/heated options. I flipped my heated seat option on during the long drives, and then flipped on the cool seat function when we sat in traffic. I really loved this feature as well as the easy touch adjustable seats for the kids back seats.
At the touch of a button, the door can open it’s self, making this a great feature for my family. Instead of someone throwing the sliding door into oblivion, the button did all the work and this mom was happy we didn’t break another door. The windows were very open and came with shades to help keep the sun out of the kid’s eyes. My little Esuun hates when the sun gets in her eyes and is very vocal about how her window has to be perfect when she rides.
All in all, I would definitely give the 2017 Kia Sedona a 5 out of 5 stars when it comes to being family-friendly and functional. I had a great time driving the 2017 Kia Sedona, it wasn’t your best friend when it came to great gas mileage but when you factor in the luxury of the drive it outweighs that one negative thing. The blind spot safety detection was also a great feature that really helped on the highways.
I would definitely recommend the 2017 Kia Sedona for any families looking for an affordable luxury Mini Van that serves your needs. If you would like to test drive one today head over to their Website to find your local Kia Car Dealer and schedule a test drive today.
