Hersheypark in the Dark

After getting filled up with some delicious Flavors of Fall food at Hershey’s Chocolate World, the kids headed over to Hersheypark. On Friday’s the park doesn’t open until 5 pm so we just hung out at Hershey’s Chocolate World until the park opened. The kids were full while this mom was super happy to be adventuring the park on a full stomach.

My family and I have never been to a Hersheypark in the Dark event before so it was truly a fun and exciting experience. Armed with flashlights the kids and I set out to find where the Trick or Treat Trail was and score some delicious Hershey Candy. Not before we stopped and snapped a few cute pictures of the girls with the Super Hero Hershey Bar.

I have previously done an After Dark guided tour with ZooAmerica without the kids. So I was very excited to walk around and see the exhibit with my kids and our flashlights. I was surprised to find that not only was this a stop on the Trick or Treat Trail, but it was also the place to go and see animals up close. Normally you aren’t able to see them this up close and personal, but during this event, you are able to touch, see and hear the animals. Little Esuun didn’t want to leave until she got to hold the bird in our Early Bird Guided Tour the last visit to Hersheypark. Thankfully the lure of possibly more trick or treat candy helped us press on and adventure some more around the park.

Treatville

After leaving ZooAmerica we found Treatville which was much bigger than I thought it was. When you first enter the kids all get a stamp on their hands, and then they are able to walk through sheltered areas.

Which was perfect for us since it was drizzling the entire time we visited the park. Each area had its own theme with some fun photo places for the kids to sit and parents to snap their pictures.

Each station had an attendant that handed out candy to each of the Trick or Treaters. Some of the stations had some really fun themes such as a coffee house, a barbershop, and a movie theater.

Remember there are 13 stops to this Trick or Treat Trail so don’t get hung up on one station. Hunt that candy down and fill that trick or treat bag up. Your Hersheypark App is your best friend, so make sure you Download that before you head to the park.

Trick or Treating at Hersheypark

After the little ones have successfully captured all of the candy go ride some rides. The lines were a breeze to navigate through there was almost no wait time for the rides they wanted to ride.

Esuun is a few inches taller than our last visit to Hersheypark so she finally got to ride some of the big kid rides with her big sister and brothers. I was thankfully able to sit and watch them twirl around in a million circles.

Attractions at Hersheypark in the Dark

Although we got caught in some drizzly weather, it made for some amazing photo opportunities as well as a family-friendly spooky night. During Hersheypark in the Dark, you don’t have to worry about a teenager dressed up in a scary outfit screaming BOO in your face. It was truly a delight to walk freely through the park at our own pace and not have to avoid certain sections of it because little Esuun is afraid of zombies.

Event Dates: October 13-15, 20-22 & 27-29

I highly recommend that you take your family to the next Hersheypark in the Dark event. It was perfect for my family with children ranging in ages 4,8,11, and 12 years old. Also, don’t forget that there are some other awesome things you can do in Hershey’s Chocolate World Attraction. Make your own chocolate bar or take a FREE CHOCOLATE TOUR RIDE. Don’t forget to taste the Flavors of Fall before they blow away until next season.
