I’m bringing you another travel adventure that my family took for our Spring Break vacation. My family spent 5 wonderful days in Pigeon Forge Tenessee eating and playing all over town. My family embarked on our 7+ hour drive from Northern Virginia next to Washington DC, to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

Spring Break Family Vacation 5 Day Itinerary

The weather was beautiful and the scenery literally doesn’t need a filter. Before jumping into planning our itinerary for our 5 day trip to Tenessee, I reached out to Visit Pigeon Forge, TN for some suggestions.

I took their suggestions and spent a lot of time on Yelp and researching Visit My Pigeon Forge, TN online. Or read below to get oodles of information that can help you plan the perfect family vacation!

The Old Mill Pottery House Cafe & Grille Girls. The Pottery House Cafe serves freshly made sandwiches, salads, and hearty entrees on dishes created by our potters right next door. Read my full review which includes photos of this beautiful and delicious location in Pigeon Forge, TN.

Well as many things do, it took to research. I took their suggestions and yelped everything I found on My Pigeon Forge, TN and visited all of the destinations websites weeks in advance.

This completely cut down the stress levels large families tend to go through, seeing as we are a group of 5 with different personalities.

My family spent the day playing and eating at the Dollywood theme park, and we are happy to report we had a blast! Read all about our trip and learn why Dollwood is a must visit destination while you are in Pigeon Forge, TN.

My kids are a lot older now with ages ranging from 6 years-old to 13 years-old. My 13-year-old son with High Functioning Autism said he had a blast. One of the destinations we visited was Dollywood, I will touch base on and their Accessibility program later in this post.

First I would like to dive into where we stayed as well as some helpful tips to make your vacation prep a breeze.

The Mountain Charm Eagles Ridge Resorts Cabin Entrance. The Mountain Charm 3 Bedroom Cabin at Eagles Ridge Resort offers ample space and luxury. The perfect place to stay during a family vacation to Pigeon Forge, TN.

Please note: Some of the places we played at do not require sunny weather to enjoy. Some locations are still open and operating rain or shine.

Always check the weather beforehand and every morning before you take off for your day of play. I noticed it would rain on the last day we were in town, so I scheduled our indoor activities to be on that day.

Pigeon Forge, TN Lodging

During our 5 day adventure to Pigeon Forge, TN we stayed in a 3 bedroom Cabin at The Eagles Ridge Resort. Just outside of all the fun on what I like to call the Strip, there is an array of Family-Friendly Cabins. This 2 level cabin had everything we needed for a home away from home experience.

Although I want to add in that our home doesn’t have an awesome Jet Tub in my master bedroom, even though I’m not opposed to installing one. I took full advantage of the full-size kitchen when I planned our itinerary to help save money.

Tips To Make Your Trip Easier

Gas

Those of you who are traveling by car, know your car and utilize any fuel savings at local gas stations before you leave. I filled up at my local Safeway Gas Station where I earned gas rewards for groceries.

Fill up your vehicle before it hits 1 Quarter of a tank, there are some stretches where the next gas station isn’t for the next 15 miles.

Snacks

I have a HUGE cooler that I bring on just about every long-distance road trip, it holds ice very well and doesn’t take up too much space.

To cut down the number of times we had to stop I prepacked an array of chips, Lunchables, fruit, juice, and water. Set designated snack times and meal times so the kids don’t overeat or drink.

The Mountain Charm 3 Bedroom Cabin at Eagles Ridge Resort offers ample space and luxury. The perfect place to stay during a family vacation to Pigeon Forge, TN.

Entertainment

Since I travel often I invested in a portable DVD player that offers 2 separate screens the kids can move around the car. Each screen can play its own individual DVD, which works out perfectly for my family.

If the kids want to watch the same film they only need to connect the two screens with the provided cords. Before we got on the road I let the kids pick a few films from the Redbox and brought along a few of their favorite DVDs.

Groceries

For those of you staying in a cabin, research what stores will be near your cabin. The most popular grocery chains in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee are Kroger and Walmart. The prices are typical and affordable, I prefer the Kroger seeing as I am already a savings cardholder and the prices are always affordable.

To cut the grocery bill down bring any non-perishables you can utilize in the cabin. I brought my own coffee, pastries, and snacks from home. PS. Don’t forget your coffee filters!

5 Day Itinerary Breakdown

Day 1 – Travel Day

My family traveled by car from Northern Virginia just outside of Washington DC, making this a little over a 7-hour drive. That calculation does not include bathroom stops and tank fillups. I was spoiled with some beautiful scenery that wasn’t thankfully disturbed by any traffic.

The first thing we did was check into our Mountain Charm Cabin and tour the cabin its self. We quickly ran back out to buy some groceries and something to cook for dinner. For My Full Review of the Mountain Charm Cabin at Eagles Ridge Resort.

Day 2 – Explore & Lesuire

I started our day at around 9 am, let the kids wake up, and eat breakfast in the cabin while I got everything ready for the day. A little after breakfast I gave a Live Cabin Tour on my Facebook page showing off all the things we love about the Mountain Charm Cabin.

For lunch, we dined outside on the patio since the weather was picture perfect for us. Read my full review of the Bullfish Grille.

Lunch was followed by a trip to Wonderworks, this interactive indoor theme park was hours of fun. They offer indoor attractions, a galactic rope course, mind-bending activities, a bubble room and so much more!

Hatfield and McCoy Family Feud Dinner Show Group Actor Photo. Nothing says entertainment like a good family feud in the Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Show. Laugh until your sides hurt in this hilarious show that offers an all you can eat southern style cooking dinner.

Hatfields & McCoys Family Feud Dinner show

Dinner at Hatfields & McCoys Family Feud Dinner show was the most fun dinner show I have ever been to. Did I mention that they offer an all you can eat southern style dinner? YEP! Before the show starts you can request unlimited refills to all the foods and drinks you want, and oh was that food delicious!

The show was hilarious and all my kids loved it, there was dancing, dogs, a pool and a barn. To find out how all of this comes together in their Family Feud show read my full review of the Hatfield & McCoys Family Feud Dinner Show.

Day 3 – Dollywood

Before any trip to a theme park, I make my kids eat breakfast at home, so we all ate a quick breakfast at the cabin. We made our way to Dollywood and arrive just after opening time.

As always we found the guest services booth and requested an Accessibility Pass from my 13-year-old. Anthony has high functioning Autism and is eligible for this accessibility pass. The pass helps inform the ride attendants that he has special needs.

Dollywood Live Entertainment. My family spent the day playing and eating at the Dollywood theme park, and we are happy to report we had a blast! Read all about our trip and learn why Dollwood is a must visit destination while you are in Pigeon Forge, TN.

The staff in the park were EXTREMELY Warm and welcoming each time he presents his pass. They made him feel special and welcomed on each ride with whoever in our family wanted to join him.

Without this pass, my 13-year-old wouldn’t be able to enjoy the park and would shut down. We brought his phone and headphones just in case things got overwhelming for him. Although he didn’t need them most of the trip because he was having such a good time.

Thank you, Dollywood for providing that for him and our whole family! Read our full Dollywood Themepark Review + view photos of our visit as well as more information about the Accessibility Program here

For dinner my family dined at Big Daddy’s Pizzeria, it was minutes from our cabin making it a great spot to grab a bite to eat before heading back. Day 4 – Explore & Play

This is when yelp did not disappoint guys! During my yelp research for The Old Mill Pottery House Restaurant, I came across a review that suggested visitors request a seat on the back patio. There were a few photos of what to expect but to be honest it wasn’t anything like what we saw in person.

They offer a covered seated area for large groups next to a little pond full of coy fish and ducks! There is a female duck that has lived behind the tiny pond. Read and see more photos in our full review of The Old Mill Pottery House Restaurant.

Outdoor Gravity Park Family Photo. Outdoor Gravity Park is an amazing adventure destination in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee at the foothills of the Smoky Mountains featuring zorbing, an attraction straight out of New Zealand.

The Gravity Park

After lunch, we changed into some swimwear and headed straight to The Gravity Park. My kids and I LOVED The Gravity Park, it’s basically this huge plastic bubble you ride in down a hill. There are 3 different types of rolls you can choose but to be honest they are all fun!

Great for all ages and the perfect activity for a hot day. Read and catch some incredible videos and photos from our experience in our full review of The Outdoor Gravity Park.

Brunch at Sawyers was well worth the wait! Don’t let the wait time deter you from dining at this delicious location, there is a line out the door for a reason. The wait went by quickly and the food was spot-on delicious.

After you dine they give you a free piece of judge card that you can claim a few doors down. Read my full Sawyers Farmhouse Restaurant.

Magiquest was a ton of fun but busy when we went, I would suggest going earlier in the morning to have a reduced crowd size. Instructions were easy to understand and gave the kids a ton of freedom to roam around the upper level during their quests.
